June opens with a Jupiter ruled Full Moon in Sagittarius on the 2nd The Sun is in Mercury ruled Gemini through to June 21st. Mercury is joined with the Sun and Mars in it’s own sign, Gemini and is in it’s retrograde (apparent backwards) phase until June 11th.
Mercury is known as the winged messenger god and represents the mental activity of the human mind and the transfer of ideas and thought. All the everyday communication between people is the business of Mercury and this includes trading goods, connections by travelling, writing and speech as well as general ideas and information exchange.
This “quicksilver” planet will travel through the early degrees of Gemini, where it is particularly strong, three times during May and June due to this current retrograde. We can expect all the issues governed by Mercury to be highlighted right into the month end and some of these things may have to be corrected, redeveloped or revisited during this phase.
With the influence of Jupiter during the Full Moon there will be an expansion of ideas, projects or positive activity and in particular our beliefs or understanding may increase to become more inclusive as we feel more intensely about these things. The Moon at Full intensifies our moods and Jupiter can be prone to exaggeration too, so emotions may become heightened as ideologies abound and feelings may have to settle down a bit before there is a real or solid basis for building on.
By the 6th June when the planet of social values, Venus, connects positively with Saturn, the planet that brings a serious “reality check” with it, we can probably be fairly confidant that any new found enthusiasm still running with mileage to go, is not simply based on “hot air” or pure optimism.
The New Moon mid month gives us both the Sun and Moon joined with Mars in Gemini. We can expect more focus on all those Mercurial affairs. More information is being made available, with an emphasis on there being two sides to a story, or rival attitudes, and maybe even using facts or data as a form of weapon or tool to achieve some end. A war of words!
The Solar year progresses to it’s culmination at Solstice on 21st June when it moves into the sign of Cancer at it’s most northerly declination. This event sets the astrological trend for the next few months and we find that the most significant alignment now is with Jupiter and Uranus the following day. This bodes well if you want more expansive change that brings a new independence or unexpected departure in approach or attitude. It’s a positive trine aspect in Fire signs Leo and Aries and this is an upbeat, inspirational dynamic. Freedom and improvement are keywords here. Dreamers of the future vision may come to the front to be heard or more likely the dream for the future will be felt collectively and the required enthusiasm and inspiration is made available for it to manifest on an individual level. This same aspect occurred in early March this year and that optimism and sense of positivity can be re lived with a chance of very real personal change for the better. It’s an opportunity and it needs to be exploited in the best possible way.
